Sunday Feature: Brazilian Modernist Godfather

A dream collaboration involving my brilliant co-producer Phoebe McIndoe, with Jack Howson (exec) and Katie Derham (presenter) from Peanut and Crumb. Katie has the most fascinating family background, which included a connection to Manuel Bandeira, a poet as loved in Brazil as John Betjeman or Ted Hughes here.

And so we set off down the rabbit hole to learn more about Bandeira, and the Modernist movement of which he was a part. We went back a hundred years in time to learn about Brazil as a post-colonial, newly industrialising nation, and the bold artists putting forward visions of what it was to be Brazilian.

This was a blast to pull together, and Phoebe and I so enjoyed working with Jack and Katie.
